This class requires extensive readings of systems research papers. To help you with this and to ensure a productive discussion in class, you are asked to write a brief review for the required reading before the class, and submit the review through Gradescope.
We provided a template to guide the review writing. However, you do not have to follow that template. Regardless of the format, the review should summarize the key points and your thoughts. Be concise. Try to keep it within one page.
If a paper has listed questions (on the Schedule page), your review is only required to answer the listed questions (i.e., a summary can be omitted).
If there are two or more required papers in one lecture, you are required to write a review for at least one paper. However, if both papers have listed questions, your review needs to answer all the questions. Note this choice only applies to the review—you must still read all the required papers.
You are also encouraged to include in your review any questions you would like to see discussed in class.
Your reviews should not copy-paste large chunk of the paper's text. They must come from your own interpretation and thinking. We encourage you to form a reading group to more effectively read the papers. But you should write the reviews independently.
Copying reviews found on the Internet or from others is strictly prohibited. That will constitute a violation of the academic integrity policies.
You may use GenAI tools such as ChatGPT to help you understand a paper. However, you may not use them to generate paper reviews or answer the listed questions for you.
